Abstract

The deep loams of the Darling Scarp produce successful lucerne stands and Hunter River lucerne can remain productive for 10 years or more with sound cutting management.

The value of irrigation is shown clearly in demonstrations where irrigated crops may yield 45 per cent, more fodder during the five dry and hot months of the year.

This trial was done to demonstrate the possibility of increasing production still further with additional superphosphate.
