Abstract

Harvesting barley and wheat crops grown adjacent to the south is regularly delayed for up to two months after maturity. The result of delaying harvesting of mature barley and wheat was measured in three consecutive years. Decreases in harvested grain yield ranging from 0.5 percent per day were measured with increasing harvest delay in all three years for barley. For wheat, depending on year and cultivar, decreases of between 0.2 and 0.5 per cent per day were measured in the first two years.
