MANGANESE is one of the essential mineral plant foods. It is grouped with four other "trace elements," or "minor elements"—molybdenum, copper, zinc and boron, which are all needed in very small amounts, but nevertheless are essential to the healthy growth of the plant.
The most prevalent trace element deficiency with vegetable crops in the metropolitan area is that of manganese.
