Cover picture: Record rains in many districts during June this year produced damaged like this in some crops – damage which often might have been by good contour farming practices. In an article on p297 of this issue Soil Conservation Adviser W J Burdass points out that continuous cropping can increase the erosion hazard – and gives some practical hints on how to avoid this problem..
